The Tree of Life is an incredibly popular motif in Jewish art and jewelry, and especially in pieces that have been inspired by Kabbalah. In ancient Jewish mysticism, the tree represents two things: eternal life, and the 10 'Sefirot' or attributes through which God reveals his part in our world. Jewelry pieces featuring this enigmatic form are a wonderful expression of faith: while undeniably Jewish, they are far more original and unique than a Star of David or Chai pendant and have a special spiritual meaning which is all their own.

The intricate design of this sterling silver necklace takes the shape of a tree within a circle, which according to Kabbalistic sources represents man's own circle of life.  Hence, it is inscribed with the famous Hebrew verse: "For he shall be as a tree planted by the water." At the same, the tree represents the Torah itself, which is known as the "Tree of Life." The necklace is also adorned with a 9k gold Hebrew letter Yud, which represents the first of the Ten Sefirot, the vehicles of Divine emanation in this world and the pathways to spiritual growth, according to Kabbalah. Finally, in the middle is set a green emerald gemstone, a "heart stone" which signifies purity and harmony, and was one of the stones set in the Choshen, the breastplate worn by the Kohen Gadol.
